Lay Worship Leader training in July June 20, 2017 e-Connections, Events, Formation Lay Worship Leader training will be held on two Saturdays in July, 7/8 and 7/22. Both gatherings will meet at St. James, Piqua. Arrangements are being made for on-line participation in the 7/8 session, but all participants must be present in person on July 22. Everyone should plan to gather between 9:15 and 9:30 each week, and should bring the BCP they’ll use to lead Morning Prayer. Each participant should register online at a cost of $20/day, or $40 for the entire training. Those attending in person are also expected to pay $10 per attendance for the cost of coffee, lunch, and other basics. Unless absence is due to a last-minute emergency, anyone who has requested lunch at the time of registration will be expected to compensate the parish for the cost of their lunch. The leadership of this training is provided by the Rev. Marjorie Menaul (both weeks) and Ms. Debbie Stokes (second week). Questions and concerns can be directed to Marjorie at email@example.com. This training is intended for people not currently licensed as Lay Worship Leaders, both first-timers and those who have allowed their licenses to lapse for a significant period. A one-session license renewal training will be held at Procter on December 2, 2017, with Bishop Breidenthal present to lead worship, answer questions, and offer guidance. Requirements for the Lay Worship Leader license include three trainings: Lay Worship Leader training Safe Church training Anti-Racism training Other requirements should be completed within six months of the LWL training. A letter requesting licensure is then sent to the bishop by the rector, vicar, or priest-in-charge. If a congregation has no clergy-in-charge, this letter should be sent by the senior warden. The license will be sent to the congregation, not to the Lay Worship Leader.
