Saturday, December 2
8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Before the rush of Christmas shopping, decorating, and baking, join us at St. James, Westwood, as we take some time in silence to settle our hearts, minds, and souls to help capture the true meaning of the Advent and Christmas seasons.

The quiet time will be led by Seminarian Jason Oden, who is the Director of Christian Formation at Trinity Episcopal Church in Covington, KY. Jason is also a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Hyde Park and is doing his Clinical Pastoral Education at Jewish Hospital.

Jason will lead three very short reflections on the Advent season. Each session will be followed by about 30 minutes of silence. Participants can sit and meditate, pray, walk around, or simply sit in the silence. The morning will end with a simple Holy Eucharist. The celebrant will be the Rev. Mike Smith, a member of the St. James parish. Some refreshments will be served before the silence starts and throughout the rest of the morning.

This Advent Quiet Time is open to everyone who wishes to experience some silence before the rush of Christmas. Please register by signing up at church or email

St. James is located at 3207 Montana Avenue in Cincinnati. Call 513.661.1154 for more information.
