St. John’s, Worthington, invites you to a service of Evensong for Lent on Sunday, March 18 at 5 p.m. (prelude beginning at 4:45)

Choral Evensong has long been an important part of ourAnglican heritage. This quiet, meditative, music-filled service incorporates elements of drama and ritual that nourish our spiritual lives. The choir will sing contemporary chant-based settings of the canticles by Bob Moore and Carlos R. Messerli, along with Josef Rheinberger’s lovely Abendlied (“Bide with us, for evening shadows darken, and the day will soon be over.”) There is no celebration of the Eucharist, and Evensong usually lasts about 45 minutes. A prelude of organ music by Duruflé and Howells will begin at 4:45.

Following the service, please join us for a reception hosted by the Hospitality and Fellowship Committee. We invite you to enjoy worship in a beautiful and historic space. St. John’s is located at 700 High Street in Worthington, on the southeast corner of the Olde Worthington Village Green (High Street at SR 161). Visit for more information.
