The licenses of Worship Leaders lapse after a few years unless they are renewed. For those whose licenses are up for renewal on Advent I, 2017 and Advent I, 2018, a license-renewal gathering will be held at the Procter Center on Saturday, April 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Register here
(If your training was received prior to 2014 and you have not renewed your license, you will need to complete a full two-day training before being licensed again. Two-day trainings are now scheduled for Gallipolis on April 28 and May 12, and for Procter on November 17 and December 1.)
Each person attending should bring a copy of the BCP, as well as 4 copies of any Morning Prayer leaflets or bulletins their congregation uses when Morning Prayer is the Sunday service.
Coffee and check-in will be available in the main building before 9:30; the gathering begins promptly at 9:30 in the chapel with Morning Prayer. This Office will be the basis of much of our morning conversation, so participation in it is a necessary part of the renewal training. Following MP and a brief break, all will reconvene in the main building.
Also meeting on April 14 are people preparing to be lay preachers in the diocese. We’ve negotiated a way to split the baby in half – if you are one of the doubly-committed on this day, please take part in the Worship Leader training from 9:30 through lunch, and join the preaching group after lunch. You’ll receive credit for both trainings.
Lay Worship Leaders whose licenses will continue beyond 2017 are welcome to register and attend, if they wish, but their licenses will not be renewed early. Or you may attend only the bishop’s portion of the day and lunch. Your registration should indicate which parts of the day you plan to attend.
Licenses are always sent to the parish, not to the individual worship leader. If you are uncertain about the expiration date of your license, check with the person in your parish who would know how to find your license in parish files.
