The national observance of the Children’s Defense Fund’s Children’s Sabbath Celebration connects people across religious traditions, generations, race, ethnicity, income, and geography to inspire year-round action to end child poverty, protect all children from gun violence, and end the heartless separation of children from families. This year, our Sabbath focuses on “Realizing Dr. King’s Vision for Every Child: Lives of Hope, Not Despair.”

You can host a Children’s Sabbath at your place of worship: easy-to-use materials for all faiths are available at https://www.childrensdefense.org/programs/faith-based/childrens-sabbath-celebration/ including prayers, worship resources, lesson plans, discussion guides, and a powerful message from CDF President Marian Wright Edelman. You can use these resources for worship, education and action on Children’s Sabbath Weekend (October 19-21) and throughout the year to galvanize new and lasting commitment to justice for children.
