For those who were following the live stream of the bishop’s Advent series, here are the words to the hymn Ave Maris Stella that Bishop Breidenthal recited during the third presentation:

Mary, sea-star
Virgin, God-bearer,
Guide us who falter
To heaven’s shore

Your Yes to Gabriel,
Spoken for all,
Undid the fall,
Giving us peace withal.

Remove each chain,
Clean every stain:
Fit us to claim
What Christ has won.

God’ s son, our brother,
Makes you our mother.
Move us to bother
With one another.

Unspoiled heart,
The Holy Spirit’s work of art,
Help us to sort
What’s best held close or kept apart,

So that at last
Clear with the past
We may look forward
To Jesus Christ our Lord.
