Diocesan Safechurch Training/Formation
A comprehensive Safechurch course designed with Christian formation in mind
It is a blessed responsibility to form Christian communities.
We cherish the opportunity to welcome people into our churches and want to live into our baptismal promises by providing safe and welcoming environments for all who come.
Decades ago, when Safe Church training first came to our churches, many congregations participated because insurance companies and lawyers recommended it. Today, in the shadow of the #MeToo movement and high profile congregational misconduct cases, we have begun to see Safe Church training as less about reducing liability, and more about Christian formation — a part of our most basic Christian conviction to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.
While the training is required for leaders in our diocese and congregations, we recommend this training for all members of our communities as we claim our biblical call and baptismal promises to love one another, persevere in resisting evil, and respect the dignity of every human being.
We’ve worked hard to produce an inspiring, enjoyable, and insightful experience, doing all we can to ensure we take our shared commitment to building healthy Christian communities – and our baptismal covenant – seriously.
Introduction to Epiphany
It is the season of the Star. Epiphany brings us the Three Wise Men and the revelation that this baby born in a manger is much more than your average infant. Epiphany is a time for us to find the various ways God reveals God’s self in our lives.
In this course you’ll learn:
What is Epiphany?
What are the themes of Epiphany?
How should we observe Epiphany?
How does Epiphany better our lives?
This course is perfect for those who are new to the Christian year, as well as long-time Christians who are looking for a refresher course on the subject.
How to Teach Kids at Home
During the Covid-19 pandemic, many of us are praying and worshipping with our children at home. Even outside the context of a pandemic, parents are their children’s greatest spiritual influences.
In this class, the Rev. Allison Liles, author and editor at Grow Christians, offers her expertise in how to teach children about Christianity and about praying and worshipping with them at home. Her video presentations include:
- Why Teach Kids at Home?
- Creating Family Worship Space
- Daily Prayer
- Sunday Worship at Home
This course is ideal for parents and Christian educators who want to help parents bring Christian education and prayer into their daily lives.
