Evensong for Lent
March 24 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
St. John’s, Worthington, invites you to a service of Evensong for Lent on Sunday, March 24 at 5 p.m. (prelude beginning at 4:45)
Choral Evensong has long been an important part of the Anglican heritage. This quiet, meditative, music-filled service incorporates elements of drama and ritual that nourish our spiritual lives. The choir will sing chant-based settings of the canticles by Everett Titcomb. The service will also include the world premiere of “What We Have Seen” by Cincinnati-area composer Robert Benson (text written by Clintonville poet, Susan McGowan). Evensong usually lasts about 45 minutes. The prelude will include organ music by Johannes Brahms and Charles Callahan.
Following the service, please join us for a reception hosted by the Hospitality and Fellowship Committee. We invite you to enjoy worship in a beautiful and historic space.
