Noted author and practitioner James Jordan will be the featured speaker at the 2019 Treasurer’s workshop. Author of Financial Management for Episcopal Churches, Jordan will speak on best financial practices and the nut and bolts of parish financial administration.
This workshop is open to all but specifically targeted to church treasurers, parish administrators, finance committees, vestries and clergy.
Additionally, local speakers and diocesan staff will discuss:
Church property insurance and risk management – keeping our buildings safe
Annual church reporting requirements: annual report, parochial report, annual parish audit
Diocesan Pooled Investment fund – potential higher returns and lower fees
DIocesanwide payroll services – let trusted diocesan staff complete your payroll
Parish audits – an alternative to the audit committee
Small groups – share with peers, issues on Parochial report filing, capital fund drives, etc

James Jordan is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner, and Chartered Global Management Accountant. His consulting and auditing practice is dedicated to serving only churches and their higher denominational organizations. He is the author of Financial Management for Episcopal Parishes, Revised Edition 2017, Church Publishing, Inc., New York. He earned his Executive Masters of Business Administration from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School, with international business emphasis from London Business School. His speaking engagements span the globe to six continents and dozens of countries. Mr. Jordan is an adjunct professor at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology, Atlanta, General Theological Union – Church Divinity School of the Pacific, Berkeley, CA, and General Theological Seminary, New York City. He is also currently serving as the Interim Chief Financial Officer at St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh. Mr. Jordan is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).
